KICK OF MEETING FOR 8.3 MILLION EURO „SOPHIA“ PROJECT WITH EUROPEAN COMMISSION

The European Commission awarded a 8.3 million € funding to the project SOPHIA which stand for „Sustainable off-grid solutions for pharmacies and hospitals in Africa“. The project was selected out of 150 applications and achieved the highest score.

Under the leadership of the University of Karlsruhe (HKA) and more then ten partners, RAACH SOLAR was awared the contract to develop the independant solar power supply for a containerized solution on cold chambers for cooling and freezing of water, medicine, blood plasma, sera and vaccines for temperature ranges between +6°C and -70°C.

In a field test from the years 2021 to 2024, a total of eight solar powered containers will be developped, built, delivered and deployed in four African countries, namely Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Uganda and Malawi.
